A landscaped park built around a natural freshwater lake that once supplied Port Blair's drinking water, right in the heart of the city.

Boating, a Japanese WWII bunker, and a central Gandhi statue make it a relaxed half-day stop, especially for families.

History & Highlights

Lakeside Boating: The park's centrepiece lake (the former Dilthaman tank) offers pedal boating, popular with families and children.
Japanese WWII Bunker: A preserved bunker and the remains of a Japanese temple from the WWII occupation sit within the grounds, adding a genuine historical layer to what's otherwise a leisure park.
Gandhi Statue & Gardens: A central Mahatma Gandhi statue, landscaped gardens, a children's play area, and food stalls just outside the gates.

Getting There: AHW Colony, Shadipur — centrally located, about 1.5km from the main bus station and 2km from the airport.
Entry: Free — boating and other optional activities are charged separately.
Timings: Open daily, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
